Licensing & Compliance
How SilverEdge stays on the right side of every federal, state, and CMS requirement — and what that means for you.
Licensed insurance brokerage
SilverEdge Insurance Advisors is the trade name for WWIA LLC, a licensed health insurance brokerage authorized to sell Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plans, Medicare Advantage (Part C), Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Medicare Part D prescription drug plans in all 50 U.S. states. Our license status is current and active in every jurisdiction we serve.
National Producer Numbers (NPN)
SilverEdge brokerage NPN: 21006123. WWIA LLC is registered with the National Insurance Producer Registry. Every licensed SilverEdge agent also has an individual NPN, which they will display during each consultation and on all marketing material they present.
To verify our brokerage license — or any individual agent's license status — independently, look up the NPN at the National Insurance Producer Registry (nipr.com) or contact your state's Department of Insurance.
Third Party Marketing Organization (TPMO) disclosure
Under 42 CFR § 422.2267(e)(41) and § 423.2267(e)(41), SilverEdge is a Third Party Marketing Organization (TPMO) for Medicare Advantage and Part D plans. We must disclose on all Medicare-related marketing:
“We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent [XX] organizations which offer [XX] products in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.”
Scope of Appointment (SOA)
Before any Medicare Advantage or Part D individual sales appointment, CMS rules require a documented Scope of Appointment (SOA). The SOA:
- Confirms which product categories (MA, Part D, Medigap, DSNP, etc.) the beneficiary agrees to discuss
- Must be obtained at least 48 hours prior to the appointment, with limited CMS-defined exceptions
- Must be retained for 10 years per CMS record-retention rules
Our agents will walk you through this brief form before any Medicare plan discussion.
Permission to Contact
We contact you only after you've requested it. By submitting a form or calling us, you grant SilverEdge permission to contact you regarding insurance plan information. You may revoke that permission at any time by replying STOP to any text, clicking unsubscribe in any email, or calling us directly.
Call recording & retention
In compliance with CMS Medicare Marketing rules (42 CFR § 422.2274(g) and § 423.2274(g)), conversations about Medicare plans may be recorded and retained for up to 10 years. Chat transcripts, SOAs, and message logs are retained per applicable federal and state regulation. Audio recordings are stored encrypted, with access restricted to compliance personnel and CMS auditors on request.
Privacy & data protection
We comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Virginia CDPA, Colorado CPA, Connecticut CTDPA, Utah UCPA, and other state privacy laws. We recognize the Global Privacy Control signal. See our Privacy Policy and Do Not Sell / Share My Info page for details.
Transparency commitment
We earn a commission from insurance carriers when a client enrolls. Our service is free to the consumer. Our agents earn the same commission regardless of which plan you choose; there is no financial incentive to recommend one plan over another. Our legal and ethical obligation is to present options based on your needs, not based on our compensation. If you ever feel otherwise, please tell us — and please escalate to our compliance team.
